Frequently Asked Questions

What is MyOwnAddress.com?

MyOwnAddress.com is a division of Outer-Net Technology Inc., an Internet Service Provider and Web Hosting Provider since 1994.   The MyOwnAddress.com system was created to simplify the Internet Domain Name registration and hosting process.  We are an affiliated (second level domain name) registration service for the .com, .net and .org namespace offering the same Internic Registration services you can get directly from registration services such as Network Solutions.  We also offer optional web hosting packages to help you get your domain name activated on the internet quickly and painlessly.  Our registration services and hosting packages are very competitively priced.

Why should I register my domain name with MyOwnAddress.com?

Several reasons.

Cost is a good reason.  Our registration fee is $29.95 Canadian dollars (Approximately $20 United States dollars).  The current Internic registration fee with Network Solutions is $35USD and that is for registration only (no parking or hosting).

Ease of use is another reason.  With MyownAddress.com you can register you domain name using your web browser to answer a few simple questions (name, address, phone number etc.).  Many ISP's charge an administration fee of $100 or more for this simple process.

Control is also good reason.  With MyOwnAddress.com you set the owner of your domain name. Some services will set themselves as the owner of your domain name putting you in a sticky legal situation if you decide to switch to a new service. MyOwAddress.com has a web based management utility that lets you modify the registration information or move your domain to another hosting provider with your registration username and password.
